Jesus spoke these things, and lifting his eyes to heaven
he said, "Father, the hour has come;
glorify your son, so that the son may glorify you,
as you gave him authority over all flesh,
so that everyone you have given to him
he may give to them eternal life.
This is eternal life,
that they may know you, the only true God,
and whom you sent, Jesus Christ.
"I glorified you on earth,
completing the work which you have given me to do;
and now you glorify me, Father, with yourself
with the glory I had with you before the world existed.
"I revealed your name
to the people you gave me out of the world.
Yours they were and to me you gave them,
and they have kept your word.
Now they know that everything you gave me was from you,
because the sayings you gave me I have given to them;
they accepted them, and truly know that I came from you;
and they have believed that you sent me.
"I ask about them; I do not ask about the world,
but about those you have given me, because they are yours;
all mine are yours, and yours are mine,
and I have been glorified in them.
I am no longer in the world;
yet they are in the world,
and I am coming to you.
Holy Father, keep them in your name which you have given me,
so that they may be one as we are.
"When I was with them,
I kept them in your name which you have given me;
I guarded them, and none of them was lost
except the son of destruction,
so that the scripture might be fulfilled.
"But now I am coming to you,
and I speak these things in the world
so that they may have my joy fulfilled within themselves.
I have given them your word,
and the world hated them, because they are not of the world
just as I am not of the world.
"I do not ask that you take them out of the world,
but that you keep them out of evil.
They are not of the world just as I am not of the world.
Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.
Just as you sent me into the world,
I also sent them into the world;
and on their behalf I sanctify myself,
so that they also may be sanctified in truth.
"But I do not ask only about these,
but also about those believing in me because of their word,
so that everyone may be one,
just as you, Father, are in me and I in you,
that they also may be in us,
so that the world may believe that you sent me.
I have given to them the glory which you have given to me,
so that they may be one just as we are one:
I in them and you in me,
so that they may be perfected into one,
that the world may know that you sent me
and loved them just as you loved me.
"Father, what you have given to me,
I wish that where I am those also may be with me,
so that they may see my glory, which you have given me
because you loved me before the foundation of the world.
Just Father, even the world did not know you,
but I know you, and these know that you sent me;
I made known your name to them and will make it known,
so that the love with which you loved me
may be in them and I in them.
Rise, let us go from here."
