When Jesus finished these words, getting up from there
he went into the region of Judea across the Jordan.
Again crowds traveled with him,
and he taught and healed them there.
Pharisees approaching to test him asked, "Is it permitted
for a man to divorce his wife for any cause?"
He answered them, "What did Moses command you?"
They said, "Moses allowed one
to write a divorce certificate to divorce."
But Jesus said, "For your hardness of heart
he wrote you this commandment.
But from the beginning of creation
he made them male and female;
on account of this a person will leave his father and mother
and be united with his wife,
and two will be one flesh;
so they are no longer two, but one flesh.
Therefore what God joined together,
let a person not separate.
"I tell you that whoever divorces his wife,
except for fornication,
and marries another, commits adultery;
and if she having divorced her husband marries another,
she commits adultery."
In the house again the disciples said to him,
"If such is the case of a person with a wife,
it is better not to marry."
He said to them, "Not all can accept this word,
but those to whom it has been given.
For there are eunuchs who were born so from a mother's womb,
and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by people,
and there are eunuchs who made themselves eunuchs
because of the sovereignty of heaven.
Let the one who can accept this accept it."
They brought to him children
so that he might touch them and pray;
but the disciples reprimanded them.
But Jesus called them to him saying,
"Allow the children to come to me and do not prevent them;
for of such is the sovereignty of God.
Amen, I tell you,
whoever does not welcome the sovereignty of God like a child,
may not enter it.
The person old in days will not hesitate
to ask a child of seven days about the place of life,
and he will live."
And taking them in his arms he blessed them
putting his hands on them.
