And Simon Peter and another disciple followed Jesus.
And that disciple was known to the high priest,
and he entered with Jesus into the courtyard of the high priest,
and Peter stood at the door outside.
So the other disciple who was known to the high priest
went out and told the door-girl, and brought in Peter.
So the door maid says to Peter,
"Are you not also one of the disciples of this person?"
He says, "I am not."
And the servants and attendants having made a fire,
because it was cold, stood and were warming themselves;
and Peter was also standing with them and warming himself.
And while Peter was below in the courtyard,
one of the maids of the high priest comes,
and seeing Peter warming himself, looking at him
she says, "You also were with the Nazarene Jesus."
But he denied it saying,
"I neither know nor understand what you mean."
And he went outside into the forecourt;
and the maid seeing him began again
to say to those standing by, "This one is one of them."
But he denied it again.
And after a little while again those standing by said to Peter,
"Truly you are one of them; for you are also a Galilean."
And he began to curse and swear,
"I don't know this person you mean."
And immediately the cock crowed a second time.
And Peter remembered the saying as Jesus had told him,
"Before the cock crows twice you will deny me three times;"
and breaking down he wept.
And Peter sat outside in the courtyard;
and one maid approached him,
saying, "You also were with Jesus the Galilean."
But he denied it before everyone
saying, "I don't know what you mean."
And going out to the gateway another saw him
and says to those there,
"This one was with Jesus of Nazareth."
And again he denied it with an oath,
"I don't know the person."
And after a little while those standing
approaching said to Peter, "Truly you are also one of them,
for even your speech makes it clear."
Then he began to curse and swear, "I don't know the person."
And immediately the cock crowed,
and Peter remembered the saying Jesus had said,
"Before the cock crows, you will deny me three times;"
and going outside he wept bitterly.
And Simon Peter was standing and warming himself.
So they said to him, "Are you not also one of his disciples?"
He denied it and said, "I am not."
One of the servants of the high priest,
who was a relative of the one whose ear Peter cut off,
says, "Didn't I see you in the garden with him?"
So again Peter denied it, and immediately the cock crowed.
And having kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard
and having sat together Peter sat in the middle of them.
And a certain maid seeing him sitting by the light
and staring at him said, "This one was also with him."
But he denied it saying, "I don't know him, lady."
But after a short while a different one seeing him
said, "You are also one of them."
But Peter said, "Man, I am not."
And after about one hour intervened another one insisted
saying, "Upon the truth this one was with him,
for he is also a Galilean."
But Peter said, "Man, I don't know what you mean."
And at once while he was still speaking, the cock crowed.
And the Lord turning looked at Peter,
and Peter remembered the word of the Lord,
as he had told him,
"Before the cock crows today you will deny me three times."
And going outside he wept bitterly.
And immediately preparing a plan early in the morning
the high priests with the elders
and scholars and the whole council,
having bound Jesus they led him away
and gave him over to Pilate.
And early in the morning all the high priests
and the elders of the people formed a plan against Jesus
in order to put him to death;
and having bound him they led him away
and gave him over to Pilate the governor.
Then Judas, who had given him over,
seeing that he was condemned, regretting it
returned the thirty silver coins to the high priests and elders
saying, "I sinned giving over innocent blood."
And they said, "What is that to us? You see to it."
And throwing the silver into the temple he withdrew,
and going away he hanged himself.
But the high priests taking the silver
said, "It is not permitted to put this into the treasury,
since it is the price of blood."
And forming a plan they bought with it
the potter's field for the burial of foreigners.
This is why that field has been called
the field of blood to this day.
Then was fulfilled what was spoken
through Jeremiah the prophet saying,
And they took the thirty silver coins,
the price of him on whom a price had been set
by some of the sons of Israel,
and they gave them for a potter's field,
as the Lord directed me.
