Luke 18:35-43

And they were going up on the way to Jerusalem,
and Jesus was leading them, and they were surprised,
while those following were afraid.
And taking aside again the twelve
he began to tell them what was about to happen to him,
"Look, we are going up to Jerusalem,
and the human son will be given over
to the high priests and the scholars,
and they will condemn him to death
and give him over to the nations,
and they will mock him and spit on him
and whip him and kill him,
and after three days he will rise."
Mark 10:32-34

And Jesus about to go up to Jerusalem
took aside the twelve privately,
and on the way he said to them,
"Look, we are going up to Jerusalem,
and the human son will be given over
to the high priests and scholars,
and they will condemn him to death,
and they will give him over to the nations
to mock and whip and crucify,
and on the third day he will be raised."
Matthew 20:17-19

And taking aside the twelve he said to them,
"Look, we are going up to Jerusalem,
and everything written through the prophets
on the human son will be completed;
for he will be given over to the nations
and mocked and insulted and spit on,
and having whipped him they will kill him,
and on the third day he will rise."

And none of them understood these things,
and this saying was hidden from them,
and they did not know what he meant.
Luke 18:31-34

And James and John, the two sons of Zebedee,
approach him saying to him, "Teacher,
we wish that whatever we ask you, you do for us."

And he said to them, "What do you wish me to do for you?"

And they said to him, "Grant to us that we may sit
one on your right and one on your left in your glory."

And Jesus said to them,
"You do not know what you are asking.
Can you drink the cup which I drink,
or be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?"

And they said to him, "We can."

And Jesus said to them,
"The cup which I drink you will drink,
and with the baptism with which I am baptized
you will be baptized;
but to sit on my right or on my left is not mine to grant,
but it is for those for whom it has been prepared."
And the ten hearing
began to be indignant about James and John.

And calling them forward Jesus says to them,
"You know that those thinking to rule the nations
lord it over them
and their great ones exercise authority over them.
But it is not so among you;
instead whoever intends to become great among you,
shall be your servant,
and whoever intends to be first among you,
shall be slave of all;
for the human son did not come to be served but to serve
and to give his life as a ransom for many."
Mark 10:35-45

Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee approached him
with her sons bowing and asking something from him.

And he said to her, "What do you want?"

She says to him, "Say that these two sons of mine may sit
one on your right and one on your left in your sovereignty."

And Jesus answering said,
"You do not know what you are asking.
Can you drink the cup which I am about to drink?"

They say to him, "We can."

He says to them, "You will drink my cup,
but to sit on my right and on my left,
this is not mine to grant,
but it is for those
for whom it has been prepared by my Father."
And the ten hearing were indignant about the two brothers.

And Jesus calling them forward said,
"You know that the rulers of the nations lord it over them
and the great ones exercise authority over them.
It is not so among you;
instead whoever intends to become great among you,
shall be your servant,
and whoever intends to be first among you,
shall be your slave;
just as the human son did not come to be served, but to serve
and to give his life as a ransom for many."
Matthew 20:20-28

The disciples said to Jesus,
"We know that you will go away from us.
Who will be great over us?"

Jesus said to them, "Wherever you have gone,
you will go to James the Just
for whose sake heaven and earth came into being."
Thomas 12

And they come to Jericho.
And as he and his disciples and a considerable crowd
were going out of Jericho,
the son of Timaeus, Bartimaeus, a blind beggar,
was sitting beside the road.
And hearing that it was Jesus the Nazarene
he began to shout and say,
"Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me!"
And many reprimanded him so that he would be quiet;
but even more he shouted,
"Son of David, have mercy on me!"

And standing Jesus said, "Call him."

And they call the blind one saying to him,
"Courage, rise, he calls you."
And throwing away his garment
and jumping up he came to Jesus.

And answering him Jesus said,
"What do you want that I may do for you?"

And the blind one said to him,
"Rabbi, that I may see again."

And Jesus said to him, "Go, your faith has saved you."
And immediately he saw again,
and he followed him on the road.
Mark 10:46-52

And as they were going out of Jericho,
a large crowd followed him.
And look, two blind ones sitting beside the road,
hearing that Jesus was passing by, shouted
saying, "Lord, have mercy on us, son of David."
But the crowd reprimanded them so that they would be quiet;
but they shouted more saying,
"Lord, have mercy on us, son of David."

And standing Jesus called them and said,
"What do you want that I may do for you?"

They say to him, "Lord, that our eyes may be opened."
And feeling compassion Jesus touched their eyes,
and immediately they saw again and followed him.
Matthew 20:29-34

And it happened as he was near Jericho
that a certain blind one was sitting beside the road begging.
And hearing a crowd passing through
he inquired what this might be.
And they reported to him that
Jesus the Nazarene was going by.
And he cried saying,
"Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me."
And the ones leading reprimanded him
so that he would be quiet;
but he shouted even more,
"Son of David, have mercy on me."

And standing Jesus ordered him to be brought to him.
And when he was near, he questioned him,
"What do you want that I may do for you?"

And he said, "Lord, that I may see again."

And Jesus said to him, "See again;
your faith has saved you."
And at once he saw again,
and he followed him praising God.
And all the people seeing gave praise to God.
Luke 18:35-43
